This is a hard one for many of us. Since we’re not used to thinking about healthy lamenting, we think of wallowing in self-pity or the kind of grumbling that implies that our problems are everyone’s else’s fault but ours.

Healthy lamenting is expressing our pain – our losses and hurts and frustrations and anguish – in a way that understands that expression as part of the pathway to keep moving forward honestly and vulnerably.
